ROAD SAFETY

Let's talk about road safety.

Pls jay walk only when the road is clear, but fret not even if you get hit when the light isn't in your favour. It is always the motorists' fault. (and dun put SGD16 in your wallet) . You may also jay walk if you are singing Jay Chou's song which goes.. 周杰伦周杰伦周杰伦; OR, you are wearing a sweater and look liked... While jay walking in a two-way street, ALWAYS check both sides BEFORE crossing. Oh this is not a safety point though. Thing is if you cross to the middle and realise there are oncoming vehicles, you'll have to stand in the middle of the 2 lanes and look like an idiot. 面子问题.

While jay walking and there's a car far far faraway, don't purposely walk slowly coz it'll seem that you are xia-lan-ing the car and who knows the driver/rider will juz accelerate and "accidentally" hit u. The 后果 wud be 不堪设想 like... him

Dun 误会 that's definitely not our dear friend Oswald down here. This is someone's pic I downloaded from the traffic police website at www.trafficpolice.com.sg . The guy, Kersorh Tan Pos Ward, was hit by an oncoming bike cuz he walked leisurely across Tampines Ave 7 before Loyang Ave. The rider, known only as Ali, reportedly said that as Tan was wearing black on the day of accident, he could not see him jay walk as he is wearing his Muhd-Cool sunglasses. Time of accident, 2pm. Tan had to undergo operations in CGH and when he reached home, nobody recognised him. Below is how he looked like before the accident.

All in all, always remember to use the road safely, as the saying goes, 马路如虎口. For the sake of those without chinese softwares, it says, Ma3 Lu4 Ru3 Fu2 Kou3, The road is like the Tigress mouth. Kudos to Lin's English School for the excellent translation on the proverb.
